South Bali
Bali’s south area is a tourism hotspot for a reason. Here you’ll find a blend of excellent beaches, a wide range of accomodation options, superb dining for every budget, plenty of shopping and a variety of entertainment.
This area is conveniently located near Bali’s capital, Denpasar, and just a short drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport, these beach towns are the island’s most accessible and popular destinations.
From the stylish beach clubs and boutique resorts and villas of Seminyak, to Kuta’s iconic surf and nightlife, each town offers its own unique rhythm. Legian sits perfectly between the two, balancing laid-back charm with easy beachside fun, while Sanur, on the island’s southeast coast, offers a calmer less crowded atmosphere with a scenic promenade and serene sunrise views.

Ngurah Rai International Airport (5)
Denpasar (6)
Sanur
Sanur is one of Bali’s most charming coastal towns with a relaxed and laid back vibe. I can’t stop myself returning there again and again!
Its calm waters and long beachfront promenade make it perfect for sunrise strolls, cycling, or simply soaking up the tranquil atmosphere.
The town offers a mix of quality dining options, from beachfront seafood restaurants to elegant international cuisine.
Visitors can also indulge in luxury spa treatments at renowned wellness spots like (my favourite) The Nest Boutique Spa.
Beyond the beach, the new Ikon Mall adds a modern touch with some major chains (including Sephora!), boutiques and a vast range of cafes and restaurants. Once inside it’s a stark contrast from the gentle beachfront vibe but if you’re on holiday with someone who enjoys a shopping mall (or if that’s you) it’s worth a visit.
Seminyak
Seminyak has a reputation as being Bali’s hub for luxury and lifestyle. This is where beautiful beaches meet chic beach clubs, designer boutiques, and world-class dining.
The area is home to some of Bali’s most renowned restaurants such as Merah Putih, La Lucciola, and Barbacoa, offering everything from contemporary Indonesian flavours to fine Argentinian cuisine.
The beach scene is equally impressive, with iconic sunset spots like Potato Head, Ku De Ta, and Woobar setting the tone.
Legian
Legian is situated between Seminyak and Kuta and blends the energy of its neighbours with a friendly, relaxed charm.
Its long, golden beach is a favourite for surfing, sunset drinks, and casual seaside cafés.
The streets behind the beach are lined with local markets, spas, and mid-range resorts, making Legian ideal for travellers seeking comfort and convenience without the crowds.
At night, the area comes alive with beachfront bars and restaurants offering everything from local satay to fresh seafood under the stars.
Kuta
Kuta is where Bali’s tourism scene all started and it remains one of the island’s most iconic destinations.
Known for its sweeping sandy beach, rolling surf, and lively nightlife, Kuta offers endless entertainment from sunrise to well past sunset.
Shoppers will find everything from surf brands and markets to modern malls like Beachwalk Shopping Centre, while diners can enjoy a wide variety of international and local cuisine along Jalan Pantai Kuta.
Kuta is a family friendly destination and the kids will love a day out at Waterbom Bali water park.
